About SBA

The Stateline Beekeepers Association resulted from a class that was conducted by Terrence Ingram more than 20 years ago. Initially meeting in Stockton, Illinois, we have since moved our round-table discussions and gatherings to the Farm Bureau in Freeport, Illinois.

The association has grown from 10 beekeepers to more than 60 and includes beekeepers with many different backgrounds and lifestyles. Some of our beekeepers have a single hive, others have several, even as many as 1,600 hives. Each member has something interesting to offer the group as we talk about our varied experiences with beekeeping.

The “Stateline” in our name refers to the Illinois-Wisconsin and Illinois-Iowa state lines, and our association includes beekeepers from northwest Illinois, southwest Wisconsin, and southeast Iowa. Illinois beekeepers represent Jo Daviess, Stephenson, Winnebago, Boone, Ogle, Dekalb, Whiteside, and Lee counties. Our Wisconsin beekeepers are from Green, Lafayette, Grant, and Dane counties. Iowa members come from Dubuque county.

We are in the process of updating the site and will launch the new version in early July. Send your suggestions and photos to Ross Thompson, webmaster.
